When it comes to children’s birthdays, you either love or hate the party planning of it all. If you’re stuck for ideas for your kid’s next birthday, check out our three favorite ideas – perfect for both boys and girls.

Woodland Fairy Fantasy

For little girls and boys who love anything make-believe, a woodland fairy party is a no-brainer. Make toadstools out of paper-mâché, forest creatures out of cardboard and use wooden tree slices for decoration.

For a fun activity, why not help the children make their own fairy jars. Use faux moss, fairy figures and butterflies to place inside mason jars to take home with them.

Fun food to serve can include toadstool sugar cookies, forest berries, pretzel “twigs” and fairy cakes (of course).

A Pirate’s Life For Me

ree

Shiver me timbers! What child doesn’t love pirates?

Decorate the room with skull and crossbones, red and white striped fabric and if you’re feeling adventurous you can even include a plank for the kids to walk.

Entertain with treasure hunts, making pirate ships and coloring in pirates for younger guests.

And instead of a paper goody bag, why not get the children to paint and fill their own treasure chests?

Food can include golden chocolate coins, carrot, and cucumber swords and you can even turn hotdogs into pirate ships. Just stick a paper sail into them using a cocktail stick. Oh and don’t forget Polly’s crackers.

Sports Party

Whether you pick a specific sport or just pick them all, this is a super simple theme that doesn’t need much work. Perfect if you’re low on time.

Paint paper plates to look like baseballs or basketballs and string them together to make bunting or just paint one of these wooden decorations.

Add streamers, balloons and stick to your child’s favorite team colors.

As for activities, sport is an easy one. Just set up different stations around the yard of sports equipment and let the kids tire themselves out!

For food, stick to the basics; chips, dip, popcorn, and hotdogs. And don’t forget the juice to wash it all down.
