Materials
~ For traditional drawing, you'll need a good quality sketchbook, a couple of graphite pencils in different hardnesses (B and 2B are good, but depending on the level of detail you want, you may want to get a set with a wider range of pencils), a gum eraser, and a blending stump.
~ For digital drawing, you'll need a tablet or iPad, a drawing app like Procreate or Photoshop, and possibly a stylus for more precision and control.
Once you've gathered your supplies, settle in a comfortable and well-lit workspace, and you're ready to start drawing! Remember, the key to drawing cartoon Stitch is in the details - make sure to pay attention to its unique features and expressions.
Instructions
Step 1. For the head, we’ll start by drawing a shape that's a mix of a half oval and a half-round, similar to a dumpling or a football shape. Make sure the lines are smooth and flowing to create a rounded appearance. This will serve as the foundation for Stitch's head.
Step 2. After drawing the basic shape, we'll move on to drawing the ears. Stitch's ears are one of its most recognizable features, so pay close attention and take your time with this step. We'll draw a hook at the bottom of the ear. Then, we'll draw an inward triangle shape above the hook, pointing towards the top of the head. At the tip of the triangle, let's make a small curve, similar to how a potato chip shape would look. Finally, in the hollow area inside the ear, we'll make a "V" shape. Just like drawing an oversized potato chip, we're shaping the ear to give it that iconic Stitch look!
Remember to take your time with these shapes and ensure they are smooth and flowing. The ears have many curves and shapes, so don't rush and focus on being precise and getting the proportions right.
Step 3 . Got it! For this step, we'll draw three small humps at the top of Stitch's head. These humps will help add dimension and shape to the head. Remember to keep the lines smooth and flowing, and take your time to ensure the humps are well-shaped and balanced.
Step 4 : For the next step, we'll erase the bottom half of Stitch's face and draw two half circles that will serve as his shoulders. Make sure the lines of the half circles are smooth and flowing, and that they're well-placed at the bottom of the head. The shoulders will help us create the foundation for the rest of Stitch's body. ( See picture above )
Step 5 : Perfect! In this step, we'll start building the body by drawing a long "U" shape with some dents in the middle on both sides. Then, at the bottom of the "U" shape, we'll draw a line to create the arms. Finally, on the sides, we'll draw two small lines that will form the legs. Keep in mind that the lines should be smooth and flowing, and the proportions should be balanced to create a realistic and detailed drawing of cartoon Stitch.
Step 6 : We'll add some small details to the hands and feet to give them more character. First, for the hands, we'll add small triangles on each claw to represent Stitch's iconic claws. For the feet, we'll add circles on both sides and then smaller circles at the very top. And don't forget the small circle in the middle of the feet for extra detail! Lastly, we'll add three tiny lumps in the center of the chest to complete the look of cartoon Stitch. Just remember to keep the shapes smooth and flowing.
